How to split a PDF or extract just the pages you need
Pull a range, export every page, or carve three useful sheets out of a 40-page dump.

People compress long files because they never split. Extraction is the cheaper, cleaner first step.
Ranges vs every page
A range is for “pages 3–7 of the lease.” Every-page export is for a scan that should have been ten files. Pick the job, not the default.
Then compress
Once you have the three pages that matter, compression has something useful to work on. Doing it in the other order wastes time and pixels.
